Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. We were busy preparing for my in-laws to come and such. But now I have time to sit down, breathe and write a post about what has been going on :)
Well that was totally not the case! We arrived to the airport, parked our car and walked happily to the terminal. Our first thought was "WOW! This is a small international airport.." We were looking at the arrival times and did not see a plane arriving from Dallas/Ft. Worth but realized when only saw planes landing from different areas in Europe. Dazed and confused, we made our way to the information desk to ask when the plane would land. After we finished butchering our version of German, the lady simply looked at us and said, "You mean Frankfurt International Airport. This is Frankfurt Hahn. The airport you need is 120 kilometers away." At this time it was 8:15, 120 kilometers is about a hour and a half drive. So we ran to the car and punched in our new destination and hauled butt to Frankfurt International!
Thankfully we made it just in time! As we saw all the people coming out of the terminal with their bags, we thought that Thomas' parents were lost in the big airport. Luckily they were some of the last people to come off the airplane. After we gave our hugs and kisses we made our way to the car so we could go explore Frankfurt!Once we got into the car, we drove around Frankfurt looking for a place to park. That is the best part about the city life, you can park and everything is within walking distance! Since that is the case here, we parked the car and started walking. On our way into downtown Frankfurt, we saw a flea market type thing that took up two sides of a huge road! With our tummies growling we gave Brian and Cindy (my in-laws) a taste of Germany, doner! It is safe to say, they enjoyed it.
After looking at the flew market, we made our way to a beautiful cathedral that caught our eye. In order to get there, we had to cross a bridge. While walking across the bridge we kept seeing these cute little locks with peoples names on them. Finally we realized that it was a mini-version of a bridge of love locks. The myth is you and your significant other put a lock on the bridge, make a wish with the key, throw it into the river and your wish will come true. Well we didn't have a lock with us so we decided we will return and do it one day.
When we finally made it across the bridge and walked into the old town square of Frankfurt. It is absolutely cute and quaint! We used the tip of the cathedral as a guide to find the full thing and that helped us so much! St. Bartholomaus cathedral was so gorgeous!
WARNING: These pictures do not do any justice for the beauty of the cathedral.
The attention to detail that was given to making of this cathedral is amazing. We made our way inside, after having to pick up our jaws off the streets and they just fell to the floor again! People from all over the world come to Frankfurt to see this beautiful structure. I am beyond blessed that I am one of those people.
After looking inside, we walked back to the car and saw some other pretty things along the way.
It is safe to say that we all had a pretty darn good day in Frankfurt. We are beyond blessed, everyday to be in Germany.
I have many more adventures from the past 3 weeks to post about! So since I have so many, I will be making a new blog post everyday until I run out of adventures to write about! :)
I hope y'all enjoy our adventures as much as I did!
Have a blessed evening/day y'all and I can't wait to share everything with y'all! :)
